Camille Ka-Mei Poon, Former / Founding Violinist

Started learning the violin at the age of six with Ms. Jue Yao, violinist Camille Poon has been a receipt of numerous scholarships and won the Third Prize in the 14th Osaka International Music Competition as well as the Grand Prize of the Hong Kong Bauhinia Cup Strings Competition 2012. She is also a frequent performer in various master classes of world renowned musicians including Kyung Sun Lee, Glenn Dicterow, Earl Carlyss, Lewis Kaplan, Alissa Margulis and Daniel Gaede. Her festival appearances included Euro Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Eastern Music Festival, Madeline Island Chamber Music, Harpa International Music Academy, Kirishima International Music Festival and Green Mountain Music Festival. Camille has also performed as a soloist with various orchestras in Hong Kong.

As a chamber musician, Camille has played in the masterclass and received coachings from Shanghai Quartet, Pacifica Quartet, Dover Quartet, Arianna Quartet and members of Miami and Juilliard Quartet. She won prizes in the 1st Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition Chamber Division with her group. She was previously the second violinist of the Cong Quartet until summer 2017 and participated in the Quartet Seminar of the Jacobs School of Music where they worked intensively with the Pacifica Quartet.

Camille Poon is now a violinist of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra in Japan. She was the concertmasters of Pro-Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, Chung Chi Orchestra of Chinese University of Hong Kong and was a principal second violin in Indiana University Concert Orchestra. She has also played in the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Columbus Philharmonic Orchestra. Camille attained the Fellowship of the Trinity Guildhall with the age of 14 and the Fellowship of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music a year after. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master of Music in Violin Performance at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University Bloomington under the tutelage of Prof. Kevork Mardirossian.
