Education
Cong Quartet was the Ensemble-in-Residence from 2019 and later the Artist-in-Residence for the Masters Programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong until 2022, where we try to work with students in all possible ways. Our works at CUHK included chamber music coaching, masterclasses, reading, performing & giving feedbacks on new compositions, performing chamber music with students, giving recitals, lecture performances…and more.
They held their own annual intensive string quartet seminars with local violin shop Violin Brothers, where students were matched and received a week of intensive training and gave a performance at the end of the seminars. The Quartet also did a residency for the Composers Forum of University of North Texas in 2019, and engaged in a teaching role in various occasions, such as HIMA USA, Madeline Island Chamber Music and Indiana University Summer String Academy.
Cong’s members was invited to teach or given chamber music lessons, masterclasses and lectures in over 50 schools from Kindergarten to Universities at their hometown in Hong Kong to promote string quartet and pass on their passions to the next generations. In 2025, the quartet was invited by the Hong Kong Education Bureau to give a lecture on Classical String Quartets to high school music teachers.
Outside of Hong Kong, Cong Quartet have coached young and adult chamber music groups at South China Normal University, the Madeline Island Chamber Music Festival in the USA, Harpa International Music Academy (HIMA) in Iceland and USA, the Indiana University Summer String Academy, and many other festivals & institutions. Members of the quartet have also taught or gave masterclasses at the Accademia Internazionale Orchestra Filarmonica del Mediterraneo, the Accademia Internazionale di Musica di Cagliari in Italy, Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester, UK and the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie (IMEP) in Namur, Belgium.

Community
Cong Quartet believes that the humanistic experience of chamber music is a treasure to the community and integrating chamber music into the daily lives of audiences is very essential. We try our best to establish the group and each of us as part of the community and share ourselves to the people around us.
Classical & chamber music should not be caged in the concert hall, We have performed for and collaborated with children hospitals, hospices, government departments, elderly cares, schools for children with special needs, homeless shelters, new immigrants association, churches, prisons, psychiatric hostels and many other similar occasions in Asia, America and Europe, especially during our time with Musethica. We also highly enjoy working with the adult chamber music community as we believe the enjoyment of chamber music should not be limited by age, level of playing, race and occupation. As the musical partner of Domaine de La Garde in France, the quartet gives a session to introduce classical music to the refugees and immigrants community in Bourg-en-Bresse every summer.
Our quartet also took part in the “Stand for Human Rights” project for Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in Thailand who have lost their lives for protecting environmental values and human rights, and participated in activities that share the same values as we do when needed.
multi-genre & cross-disciplinary works
As focus as we are in classical string quartet repertoire, our quartet has a strong interest in collaborating with all kinds of art forms, cultures and disciplines. We welcome non-traditional performances and often take part in the creating process of these projects. We have participated in performances exploring cultures of Nordic countries, European Royalties, American Street Arts, Traditional Chinese Festivals, Japanese Anime and many more.
Our past experiences included collaborations with sports & athletes, technologies, food & drinks; performances with actors, dancers, poets, lighting & visual artists; working with heritage sites, sound installations, exhibitions, art museums and many more. Our recent digital performance at the 50th Hong Kong Arts Festival included a performance with neural oscillations & robots!
