Yan-Ho Cheng 鄭恩浩, Cello 大提琴
A native from Hong Kong, Yan-Ho Cheng started the cello with Ming-Yuen Cheung, Joliana Lai and Hiu-Lo Tung. After finishing his high school at La Salle College, he graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University with a Master degree in Cello Performance under the guidance of Peter Stumpf and Brandon Vamos . He has played in the masterclass of Gregory Beaver, Johannes Moser, Li-Wei Qin and studied with Thomas Landschoot and Felix Wang in other occasions.
As the founding cellist of Cong Quartet, he worked closely with the Pacifica Quartet and has received coaching or played in the masterclass from Arianna, Blair, Cavani, Dover, Rubens and Shanghai Quartet. He has also played with Jorja Fleezanis, Mai Motobuchi, Yuri Bashmet and Eric Kim.
Also an active orchestral cellist, Yan-Ho was the assistant principal of the Chamber Orchestra at the Jacobs School of Music. He has also played with the Evansville Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. He also worked as the assistant of Susan Moses at Indiana University String Academy.
Yan-Ho was a recipient of a few scholarships including the C.C.Chiu Memorial Fund, a full scholarship for his masters studies, C.F. Hu Postgraduate Memorial Scholarship, China Soong Ching Ling Foundation “Gucci Timepieces and Jewelry Music Fund” Scholarship and Li Po Chun Charity Trust Fund. He was also a prize winner in the cello concerto competition in the Hong Kong School Music Festival.
Yan Ho is now a visiting student of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studying with Professor Ray Wang and coaching with Professor Ivan Chan.
作為Cong四重奏的大提琴手，恩浩與四重奏在印第安納大學修讀弦樂四重奏研習班，跟太平洋四重奏學藝，亦跟艾里安娜四重奏、Blair 四重奏、卡雲尼四重奏、Dover 四重奏、上海四重奏等著名音樂家學藝和擔任助教。也曾與多位世界著名的演奏家包括俄國中提琴大師巴舒米、博羅梅奧四重奏中提琴手元淵舞和前明尼蘇達管弦樂團首席費珍莉絲等演出。
